In order to provide a convenient source of usable water for commercial or household use, many communities and individuals will choose to set up a water supply system. Water supply systems are usually run by public utility companies and usually consist of a complex series of aqueducts and pipes that take water from a source, purify it for human consumption, and deliver it to homes and businesses where it can be used by the public. Water supply systems will usually get their water from a lake, river, well or aquifer and will often need to put it through a rigorous purification process in order to make it potable to humans.
