Assisted living facilities are centers that provide assistance to elderly people, but they offer more independence than nursing homes. Assisted living facilities might be associated with a hospital. Some are independent or associated with other healthcare facilities. Adult care is provided to the people who live at the centers. Many people seek hospice in assisted living facilities during their retirement years. Senior citizens can live in a community with other people of their own age. While at an assisted living facility, a person can usually reside in his or her own apartment while getting the rehab and care that they might require. The apartments make up a village of independent people who sometimes take their meals and engage in social activities in community areas. Some assisted living facilities may be paid for by Medicare or a person's insurance provider.
