Cable television companies have changed the way Americans receive and watch TV. Cable television offers a significantly larger number of television channels than traditional broadcast. There are digital direct to home TV systems that are video only, or include broadband to increase the speed of Internet connections. In today's high-tech world, consumers now have multiple choices in terms of how they receive their television signals, as well as the specific channels they will receive from their cable television companies. Consumers can also select the type of cable TV they want: basic analog or digital. Digital cable is generally more costly but it may offer more channels, including music stations and interactive programming guides. Digital cable may also offer a better picture quality.
