When pet owners go out of town they often take their animal friends to pet boarding houses or have pet sitters watch over them. Pet boarding houses are sometimes called kennels. At a kennel a pet is watched over and fed. Some kennels take care of only dogs. Some dog kennels only watch small dogs. Some kennels only care for cats. Some kennels take care of many different kinds of animals. Pet sitters take care of pets at their homes or by checking up on the pet at the pet owner's home. Different pet sitters specialize in watching different kinds of pets. There are cat sitters, big dog sitters, small dog sitters, bird sitters, fish sitters and sitters for other kinds of pets.
