To become a nurse a person must receive a nursing degree from a nursing school. Some nursing schools only offer instruction in nursing while many nursing schools are part of larger junior colleges, colleges or universities. Many nursing schools offer licensed practical nurse (LPN), certified nursing assistant (CNA), and registered nurse (RN) degrees. Nursing schools that are part of colleges or universities often offer programs where a graduate earns a bachelors or nursing (BSN) degree or masters of nursing (MSN) degree. Some nursing schools may be better than others in training certain kinds of nurses such as a program that specializes in training pediatric nurses. Most nursing schools work with hospitals, nursing homes and clinics so nursing students can earn real world experience.
