Wholesale jewelers who sell directly to the retailers often pass lower costs on to the client. This in turn may cause the savings to be passed on to the consumer. Some wholesale jewelers are family owned and operated. Many wholesale jewelers have attended the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) and are trained to accurately and consistently assess the quality and value of gemstones. GIA trained wholesale jewelers are trained to detect treated or synthetic gemstones.
