A comic book is a magazine or book that contains comics, which are a series of related cartoons that tell a story. Comic books are a form of visual art consisting of images which are commonly combined with text, often in the form of speech balloons or image captions. Originally used to illustrate caricatures and to entertain through the use of amusing and trivial stories, comic books have evolved into a literary medium with many subgenres. While the word “comic” may conjure an image of a humorous art form, comics are not always funny. Many comic books are very dramatic and serious in their subject matter.
