A good way to look into the inner workings of the human body without any invasive procedures is the x-ray. When a doctor wants to have a patient x-rayed, they often send the patient to an independent x-ray lab since most doctors do not have x-ray machines in their own offices. Many x-ray labs specialize in x-raying people. X-rays are good for seeing if someone has broken a bone. Some x-ray labs have other machines that can peer into the workings of the human body in a noninvasive manner such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machines or computed axial tomography scanners (CAT scanners or CT scanners). Some x-ray labs work in the veterinary field and mostly x-ray animals. Other x-ray labs are not associated with medicine at all and instead use x-rays for industrial purposes or scientific research.
