Most parents find leaving a child at a day care center for the first time to be an extremely upsetting event. To help parents and children better handle the emotions involved, many day care centers ask their teachers to meet prospective parents and children prior to their first day. Other day care centers might allow potential clients observe a classroom in session. Both of these means can help children and their parents feel less intimidated by the day care center. Oftentimes things will calm down after the first day or two if the child finds the activities at the day care center to be interesting, challenging and fun.
