Drywall contractors are often hired to repair or replace existing drywall that has been damaged by water or fire. In some jobs, drywall contractors have to remove existing drywall, paneling, or plaster before adding or repairing damaged drywall. They use crowbars and hammers to remove these wall coverings. If the underlying insulation is damaged, they add new insulation and add moisture barriers before replacing or repairing existing drywall. Tools used to repair drywall may include staple guns, glues, drywall tape, nails and screws. A drywall contractor will need space available to complete a repair job, an area to operate machinery, including cutting tools, and an area to pile discarded materials.
