Elevators are needed in many buildings both for convenience and to comply with ADA standards. When elevators need to be put into an older building or when they need to built into a new building, elevator companies, elevator contractors and elevator firms are called. Some elevator companies install and service both passenger and freight elevators whole others only install and service passenger elevators and others only install and service freight elevators. Some elevator contractors specialize in installing elevators into older buildings by retrofitting them in but most do more installation work on newer buildings. Some elevator companies specialize in installing and servicing elevators in very tall buildings such as skyscrapers. Some elevator companies specialize in installing and servicing cable elevators while others mostly install and service hydraulic elevators.
