Optometrist, doctors of optometry, might provide vision care for contact lenses. They might examine people's eyes to determine vision problems and eye diseases. They might test patients' visual abilities: depth and color perception, and the ability to focus and coordinate the eyes. Optometrists can administer drugs to patients that might aid in diagnosis of vision problems and prescribe drugs to treat some eye diseases. Optometrist might refer patients to other health practitioners when they diagnose conditions caused by systemic diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure.
