The origins of pizza bread are thought to go back to the early Greeks who put toppings locally available, such as olive oils and spices, on large baked flat breads. However, much later, in the eighteenth century, flat breads called pizza, were sold on the streets and markets of Italy. When visiting her subjects, Italy's Queen Margherita, discovered pizza bread and enjoyed it immensely. The Queen ordered a chef to bake a variety of pizzas. The chef baked a pizza topped with mozzarella cheese, fresh basils and tomatoes for her dining pleasure, and thus what is commonly known as pizza, was created, in the late 1800s, in Italy.
