Special education schools and schools with a specialized academic curriculum for exceptional students may be appropriate for students with learning disabilities or for students who have behavioral problems. Schools with special academic education can also sometimes be for gifted and advanced-pace students as well. Secondary students with learning disabilities will sometimes make inadequate progress in subjects such as mathematics. Their achievement is often times limited by a variety of factors, including prior low achievement, low expectations for success, and inadequate instruction. Students who have learning disabilities in mathematics, ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, dyscalculia, speech disorder, reading difficulties, or other learning disabilities can sometimes benefit from schools with programs for special education.
