Waste management is the collection, transport, processing or disposal of garbage materials, such as those produced by human activity, in an effort to reduce their effect on human health or the local environs. A focus in recent decades has been to reduce garbage's effect on the environment and to recover resources from them. Garbage collection services in many areas include the collection of recyclables. Some garbage collection services provide separate receptacles for recyclables such as glass and bottles, newspapers and other paper goods, and plastics. Many environmentally minded citizens consider this an excellent step towards reducing the impact of human waste on our planet.
