A person looking to rent a video tape or DVD will almost always contact a video tape rental store or club. Video tape rental stores usually carry video tapes of new and old movies, TV shows, children's programming and movies that were made specifically for the home video format. Most video tape rental stores and clubs now carry DVDs in addition to VHS tapes, as DVD has largely replaced VHS as the predominant format. Most video tape rental stores have not replaced their stock of VHS tapes however, so most video tape rental stores and clubs carry both VHS and DVD.
