Personal injury attorneys deal with cases that are legal disputes that arise when a person or group of people suffers harm from an accident or injury, and someone else might be legally responsible for that harm. In order to practice law, personal injury attorneys must be admitted to the bar association in the state(s) they practice in. Most disputes over fault for injury are resolved through informal early settlement, usually among those personally involved in the dispute, their insurers and the attorneys. A settlement generally is reached through negotiation, and then followed by a written agreement in which both sides forgo any further action.
