Race cars are usually vehicles that are specifically designed for high speed racing and are usually engineered to have large amounts of horse power, increased aerodynamics, and sensitive handling. Typically, race cars are constructed and designed for car racing competitions and exhibitions and will often be maintained by a team of mechanics who are trained in the specific engineering of custom race cars. Some car lovers will choose to purchase unique or antique race cars for their personal collection, although many of these cars fail to meet the "street legal" standards necessary for driving on regular roads outside of competitions.
