There are many different kinds of information services and information bureaus. Some information bureaus are government agencies that compile and disburse information such as the Census Bureau. Some information bureaus are non-profit organizations that disburse information about local businesses, national businesses, legal cases, or any number of other topics. Some information services are for profit companies. Some information services collect and disburse information about the buying habits of individual consumers or groups of consumers while others may collect and disburse information about subjects like public companies, credit reports or used cars. All information services and information bureaus collect and disburse information. Some do it for free while others charge a fee.
