Taxis are often the quickest and easiest mode of transportation to get around a city or to a city from a local airport. Taxicab drivers are usually familiar with the quickest and safest routes to get their passengers to and from destinations. Most taxis in large cities in the United States are radio dispatched or equipped with cell phones to keep the taxi driver in contact with the dispatchers. Dispatchers can keep taxicab drivers informed of road conditions, hazards or accidents that could impede their drive. In large cities, taxis can be found on nearly every street and easily hailed by passengers wanting them to stop for them.
