Residential designers may be individuals that may be experts in home planning, or large companies. A residential designer may have stock house plans that they may be able to modify for the house a customer wants to build, or they may have architects on staff that can design an entirely new unique house. Residential designers may evaluate the land that a house will be built on and recommend a particular style of house that may be best for that area. Some of the house styles that may be recommended by a residential designer are, ranch house, narrow lot, country house, Mediterranean style, continental, colonial, craftsman and Cape Cod style.
