Many people confuse manufactured homes with mobile homes. There are a number of distinctions that separate the two. For example, mobile homes have axles and automotive-type frames, which are used to transport them to their location of use by being towed. Manufactured homes lack these axles and frames, and are usually transported to the home site by means of flat-bed trucks. Manufactured homes are often built in two or more units, which are transferred to the site of use and joined together there. Many manufactured homes are of a multi-level design, and must be set in place using a crane service.
