Many radio stations are owned by large broadcasting companies that may be located many miles away from the radio station. For example, some corporations own almost 200 radio stations located in many different states. Even though radio stations may be owned by a broadcasting company located far away, the local programming decisions are largely made by local staff. Radio stations typically have a General Manager who leads the radio station. Reporting to the radio station's General Manager, are the radio station's Program Director and General Sales Manager. At some small radio stations, these positions may be held by the same person.
