Airports are places where airplanes can safely take off and safely land. Some larger cities have several airports. In some small towns the nearest airport may be miles and miles away. Most large cities have one very large airport and most of the time this airport will be an international airport. Many large cites also have smaller commercial airports that mostly serve regional air traffic. Many cities also have private airports where only private planes can land. Some small towns have air strips that service private air travel. Small cities and large towns often have one airport and most of the time this airport is a regional airport. Flights that originated in other countries can only land at international airports and flights going to another country can only take off from international airports.
