Art galleries are places that exhibit and sell works of art, primarily visual arts such as paintings, illustrations, and sculpture. Art galleries can be found in most large urban areas, as well as many smaller cities and towns. They also tend to be particularly prevalent in charming villages and tourist regions, where vacationers tend to go. In addition, they often exist in lovely remote areas where artists have congregated to live and practice their art. While art galleries are primarily concerned with providing the space for artists to display their works, they also are focused on selling. Some galleries act as art dealers, and can provide art at either retail or wholesale prices.
