How to Choose Musical Bands
--How to Hire Musical Bands--
Many people want to provide musical entertainment and events and functions. Bands are popular at weddings, parties, dances, and various types of private functions. If you are looking to hire a band for your event, there are a number of options available to you. Your first step will be to decide what type of band you want to hire and start searching for one as soon as you know the date and location of the event. You may be able to get recommendations from friends, newlyweds and event planners. You can also try looking in the phone book for booking agents. The Internet can be an excellent resource for finding musical bands in your area. Many bands list themselves with online databases, allowing you to search for local bands based on various criteria, including the type of music you are interested in. Some bands even have their own websites, where you can hear samples of their music.
--What to Look For in Musical Bands--
When evaluating bands to hire for your wedding, party or other event, there are various criteria that you will want to consider. You may first want to check with your venue for any noise or space restrictions. Ask the manager what size band has worked best in the past. Once you have found bands in your area, listen to tapes, watch videos, or if possible, go listen to the band play. Note how the musicians interact with the audience and the variety of music they play. Tell the bands what type of music you want played, such as swing and jazz. Ask to see their playlist and note any songs you definitely want played and those you want nixed. Once you have chosen the band you like the best, be sure you have a signed contract that includes dates, setup and finish times, breaks, musicians, emcee duties, clothing, equipment, rates, deposits, and cancellation and refund policy.
--Many people enjoy listening to music, and having live musical bands at parties, weddings and events can make them truly special. Be sure to do your homework and choose the right band for your guests.

Many musicians prefer to play in an ensemble. There are many types of ensembles that musicians can join. These groups will often play different styles of songs. When a musician starts performing with an ensemble that plays the style of songs that he or she wants to make, he or she will usually pick specialize in a certain instrument. For pop rock bands, the most common instruments are guitars, drums, bass guitars, and keyboards. There are many other types of groups other than pop rock bands, though, so a musician that plays other types of instruments might want to consider performing with a classical, jazz, theatrical, or big band group.
