How to find or choose barbers
A barber is someone who cuts and styles men's hair for a living. Barbers can work out of their homes, or in a salon or gallery. Barbers work with all different types of hair, from curly or straight to wavy or frizzy, and they often shave beards too. Barbers use scissors, clippers, combs and other supplies. They can give advice on hair products, the latest styles, and hair care tips. The first step to finding a good barber is to simply ask around. People are usually very loyal to their hairstylist and will stick with the same one for many years. One trademark symbol for barbers is the red and white striped pole outside the door. If you see that, you know you're dealing with a genuine barber. The next step is to choose a barber you feel comfortable with. Do you prefer a one-on-one experience with a hairstylist in his home? Do you like visiting a top salon with many different barbers to choose from? Or would you prefer a small-town barbershop with one or two barbers to chat with? Price is a factor when considering a barber. If you can't afford trendy salons or galleries, look for a barber that fits your budget but that still fits your style. When selecting a barber, consider whether you enjoy the chatty type or the silent type. Personalities must gel, or you will not enjoy your experience. Also, what types of equipment does the salon have? Driers, chairs, plenty of sinks and cutting stations, and a comfortable, relaxing waiting area are all good things to look for.
