Many blind services facilities can help visually impaired person learn to become independent by assisting them in learning the skills that are necessary for increased mobility and financial independence. By assisting the visually impaired to achieve their goals, those with poor vision can often become independent in ways that would be difficult without the support of the facility. Some blind services facilities have communities of people with impaired sight. Others just operate on a day basis, allowing those with poor vision to learn the skills that will help them get around in the world without assistance. For those with poor sight to get the support they need, they should contact the blind services facilities in their area so that they can learn about what services are offered.
