Boots are a type of footwear which cover the foot and part or all of the leg, usually at least the ankle and sometimes up to or over the knee. They can be geared towards protection and function, or towards fashion. Boots can be found in a wide range of heights, colors, materials and styles. Common boot types include cowboy boots, work boots, combat boots, hiking boots, fashion boots, casual boots, motorcycle boots, and sport boots (such as ski and snowboard). Originally made for working wear, they have since become ubiquitous among footwear, worn for appearance, comfort, durability or functionality.
