Cabinet makers use a variety of different supplies, such as nails, paint, stains and varnish. Wood and other cabinet making materials are important supplies for cabinet makers. Cabinet makers today work with all sorts of materials such as MDF (medium density fiber board), laminates, and woods such as maple, oak, cherry and birch.
--Choosing Supplies for Cabinet Makers--
One of the most important choices for cabinet makers is which wood to use to make the cabinets. There are a number of options, each with its own unique qualities. Hickory wood has a dramatic grain contrast, and can be suit a rustic, country look. Cherry is lavish and versatile, with a distinctive, rich color with deep, red highlights. Cherry can be used for both contemporary as well as traditional styles. American Red Oak is versatile and durable, with bold grain that add a beautiful accent to country and traditional kitchens. White Oak is also very versatile, with medium-to-dark finish and an open grain, varying in color from beige to medium brown. Maple is a good choice if you plan on painting or glazing, and looks lovely when stained. Knotty Pine has an outdoorsy, rustic look with a generally-straight grain and a creamy color. Ash has an open grain with porous rings, and colors varying from white to brown. However, it doesn't absorb any stain very well, so it is often varnished. Mahogany is very sturdy, with a straight grain, and is one of the best woods to use. Its color can range from light crimson to brownish yellow to deep red.

When it comes to cabinet makers, building equipment and home supplies, there is certainly plenty to pick and choose from. Especially in this day and age, you don't have to settle for mere routine accessories, basic collections, cheap products and soft woods. Have your front door crafted from maple, oak or cherry if you prefer. There are custom cabinet makers that can install fabulous kitchen accessories for you at a decent wholesale cost. Naturally the type of wood you choose will play a part. But, once the cabinet maker has all the specs, he/she can give you an estimate on the total price. Keep in mind terminology such as dining furniture, kitchen molding, thermofoil, warranty, living accessible, semi dressing, styles, profiles, custom collection and wood specs.
