The term “café” means different things in different parts of the world. In the United States it normally refers to a casual restaurant where patrons are served by waiters, waitresses or servers. When people want to go out for a causal dining experience, they often go to cafes. Most cafes do not serve alcoholic beverages, although some do. People sometimes go to cafes for coffee and nearly all cafes serve coffee and some serve espresso and other gourmet coffee drinks. People also sometimes go to cafes for desert. Most cafes serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. Some cafes are open 24 hours a day. Most cafes stay open from early morning until late at night. Some diners refer to themselves as cafes and some coffee shops refer to themselves as cafes.
