How To Choose The Perfect Campground For You
Types of campgrounds
There are as many types of campgrounds as there are types of camping. Some campgrounds cater to RV's, while others accept only tents, or a combination of tents and RV's. Some offer full amenities and services, while others are little more than a spot in the woods. Before you choose a campground, you will want to find out what services and amenities they offer, which might include fire pits, picnic tables, piped potable water, utility hookups for recreational vehicles, and convenience stores for camp supplies. Toilet facilities might be pit toilets, outhouses, or flush toilets. Some campgrounds have no showers; others have cold or hot showers. Many campgrounds require payment for showers, often via inserting quarters for a few minutes of hot water. Luxury camping resorts may have heated pools, game rooms, and even cafeterias or restaurants nearby.
How to choose a campground
When you are choosing a campground, there are some important questions to consider. Will you be in a tent or RV? If you'll be in an RV, will you need utility hookups? Do you prefer flush toilets and hot showers? Where will you buy ice for your cooler?
Where will you get water? Be sure to verify that the campground includes the amenities and services that your type of camping requires. Another question that may be important is to find out the physical features of the camp sites – are they shaded, or out in the sun? Are they near a body of water? This may be particularly important if you are camping with children. Can you collect firewood, or do they sell it nearby? Do they have quiet hours when RV's cannot run their generators? Many campgrounds have websites that detail these items; if not, you can often find out with a phone call.
Camping is a terrific and low-cost way to vacation in a lovely natural setting. Choosing the right campground for you is easy with MagicYellow.com.
