Carburetors
When looking for a carburetor, or carby, you will want to make sure that you find what that combines air and fuel efficiently for your internal combustion engine. Some automotive retail stores will sell different parts for a carb, while others will perform restoration services to get your carb working properly. Carbs can be found in different vehicle models and different types of cars. For racing automobiles, it's important to make sure the carb's vacuum is working properly and that the flow of air is steady. An acceleration fuel pump can get the car to move quickly and have a high performance. If you're wanting somebody to take a look at your car's engine, they will do a test to see if the carb is able to measure the right mixture of air flow with the fuel injections while adjusting for temperature and atmospheric pressure. The carb needs to be able to work properly with a cold or hot start and when cruising at part or full throttle. Carbs have to be able to function while using low rates of exhaust emissions. If you're having somebody take a look at your carb, make sure they are aware if yo uhave a fixed or variable venturi as there are differences. Older automotive engines will have an updraft carb which has its own advantages and disadvantages. The delivery of the proper amount of fuel to air is important for the carb to work. Different speeds and loads can effect how the engine runs. Stock or jet carburetors may need to have replacement vacuums or have their mixture of air and fuel tested to fix a problem.
