How to find or choose childbirth education
Pregnant women and their significant others often take childbirth classes to learn about the birthing process and ways to relax throughout. Some women hire midwives to help with pregnancy and childbirth. Midwives are professionals trained in taking care of a woman during pregnancy, labor and delivery. Midwives are usually women, and typically operate outside of traditional hospital settings. Pregnant women who use midwives want extra support to help them deliver the baby naturally and in a calm environment without medical intervention if possible. Other expectant mothers simply take a certified childbirth education class in their third trimester to prepare them for labor and delivery. Some classes are ongoing and last about six to eight weeks, while other classes take place in one day over several hours. Childbirth education classes are taught by certified professionals with training in childbirth and coaching. They can provide support and assistance with the various relaxation and breathing techniques employed during labor. Your childbirth professional or specialist can also provide personal information on their own pregnancies to help moms in their classes relate to the event. Childbirth education teachers may show instruction videos of mothers delivering babies, whether vaginally or via cesarean, natural or medicated. The teacher or specialist may also show expecting mothers breastfeeding techniques. Pregnant mothers will also get advice on the latest medications and drugs available during labor. To find a childbirth education class or service, ask your doctor for more information. He or she should be able to give you contact information so you can set up your class service schedule. Look online to find parenting tips, natural birthing tips, association information, instruction classes in your area, free DVD or video samples, childbirth education license information, outreach programs, preparation tips, postpartum and prenatal advice, parenting resources, expert advice, and maternal supplies.

Expecting mothers and parents will often contact a childbirth educator in order to gain information and guidance during the childbirth process. Because childbirth can often be a difficult process, many people will choose to see a professional childbirth educator because of the specialized training in childbirth education that they will often receive. The International Childbirth Education Association will often provide training to childbirth educators. Although there are many childbirth information resources on the internet and through medical publications, many people will often see a childbirth educator because they are usually more qualified to answer specific questions and make better recommendations.
