How to Advertise with Television & Radio Commercials
--How to Make Use of Radio & Television Commercials-- If you have a product, service, political candidate or other message that you wish to get out to the public by means of radio or television, you have a number of options available to you. There are a multitude of resources who can work with you on all aspects of designing and implementing your radio or television ad campaign. Large corporations typically work with advertising agencies, and often have huge budgets for this form of advertising. Smaller companies and entrepreneurs, however, can also make use of the radio and television commercials via smaller agencies, or independent producers. Often local radio stations will write and even produce the radio commercials for local retail advertisers at no additional cost when the merchant purchases a schedule of "spots" on the station. The Internet can be an excellent resource for finding companies who can assist you with your radio and television advertising needs. --Working with Radio & Television Commercials-- The traditional half-hour television show generally contains 22 minutes of program and 8 minutes of commercials. About three-quarters of these television commercials will usually be national advertising, with one quarter reserved for local advertisements. Television advertising during highly-watched programs can be very costly; however, commercials during less-watched programs can generally be more affordable. The best advice is to avoid surprises by checking out how much it will cost to air your commercial locally before you shell out the money to have it produced. For radio commercials, many are produced by an outside ad agency, and the airtime is purchased from a station or network in exchange for sponsorship of its programming; or, they may be produced for less money by the radio station itself. Radio commercials are frequently sold in either 30 second or 60 second increments. However, the 60 second radio commercial usually sis not sold at twice the price. While practices vary, most radio stations only charge 20-30% more for the longer spot. --Advertising with radio and television commercials can be one of the most powerful and effective means of getting your message across. The Internet can help you find the right professionals to help you get your radio or television advertising campaign off the ground and on the air.
