Cooperatives may be made up of agricultural groups, farmers, individuals or businesses interested in sharing transportation, suppliers, utilities and energy, or banking. Cooperatives may be made up of individuals who give their time or money to the cooperative to keep it going, or cooperatives may be made up of a mixture of paying and volunteering members. Cooperatives may be able to pool the resources of the members so that all members can benefit. Cooperatives might also allow members to get discounts on products and services. Cooperatives may be a good source for alternative energies, organic foods, and local products as well as entertainment, employment, housing and other services.
