People who cultivate and manage crops will often have them dusted, seeded, or sprayed using an agricultural aircraft for aerial application of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other products used on crops. The use of “Crop Dusters”, or agricultural aircraft, to spread seed and pesticides, began in the early 1920's as a way to spread poisons to kill insects that were damaging crops. Crop dusting (or seeding, or spraying) will usually eliminate the manpower needed to spread the substance by foot and can often be a good way to quickly and efficient cover large areas of crops with a given substance.
