The mission of educational associations is to either support the needs of educators, to serve and act on behalf of the needs, rights and well-being of specific groups of students, or to work towards the advancement of particular educational disciplines or subjects. Educational associations and their affiliate organizations participate in a variety of activities as determined by their members. These may range from raising funds for scholarship programs to conducting professional workshops on issues that affect faculty and school support staff to bargaining contracts for school district employees. They may also provide professional development opportunities for educators who work with the students the association serves, or who work within the specified educational disciplines they support.
