In the case of an eye care emergency, an eye doctor should be contacted immediately. Pediatricians are eye doctors who only work with children. Some eye doctors perform lasik or other types of eye surgeries. Other eye doctors may not perform any surgeries and instead have a general practice in which they perform eye checkups. An eye doctor may have their own practice or they may be part of a walk-in clinic. Walk-in clinics do not always require a prior appointment for an eye exam with the eye doctor. When experiencing eye related problems, contact an eye doctor. In an emergency, many eye doctors do not require a previous appointment.
