Some eye doctors will perform annual eye checkups and exams while other eye doctors specialize in other areas of eye care. An eye doctor may only perform corrective eye surgeries while other eye doctors may do eye surgeries but also have a general eye care practice. Usually a general practice eye doctor will be able to prescribe corrective eyewear to their patients who need it. If you are experiencing eye problems such as blurry vision, pink eye, or puffy eyes, contact an eye doctor. In the case of an emergency, then an eye doctor should be contacted immediately and in most cases, an eye appointment is not necessary.
