How to choose or find Indian reservations and tribes
An Indian reservation is a piece of land owned and maintained by a Native American tribe and protected by the United States Department of the Interior’s Bureau of Indian Affairs. Not all tribes have a reservation, while others can be quite large. There are a few hundred reservations within the United States alone, with each tribal council having jurisdiction. Some reservations feature casinos, which attract gambling tourists from all over. Many Native American reservations also feature tobacco and cigarette shops, which may also sell local handmade crafts and food such as beads, clothing, and corn. The more popular Indian tribes include Sioux, Maza, Blackfeet, Cattaraugus, Hualapai, Navajo, Apache, Cherokee, and Pine Ridge. Whether you want to visit a Native American reservation in Arizona or Massachusetts, you can find what you’re looking for by checking online directory listings for a tribe or reservation. Interested in gambling? Check out casinos on Native American reservations by plugging in your area or destination. You’ll get listings of casinos in and around the area you want to visit. You can do some research online or at your local library as well on the many different Indian tribes in this country, such as Sioux. You’ll learn how the Indians started out here, what they harvested, such as corn, and how they survived. You can also find out where you can purchase local handmade Native American crafts such as beads, clothing, and other items. To get even more information on a particular Native American reservation or tribe, contact a few different ones to start with, focusing only on those that offer exactly what you need, whether casinos, local craft shops, or tobacco stores.

Indian reservations are semi-autonomous zones that were created by treaties signed by the United States and indigenous North American tribes. Indian reservations are governed by the tribe or tribes that inhabit them. Most reservations are governed by one tribe and that tribe usually has a tribal government office. Some reservations are inhabited by more than one tribe and in such cases each tribe usually has its own tribal office. Indian tribal government offices are usually good places to call when one wishes to contact Indian tribes or Indian reservations. Many Indian reservations have elected to build casinos on tribal land and the tax laws found on reservations tend to be different than those found in surrounding areas. Indian reservations in the East tend to be fairly small areas while reservations in the West tend to be much larger.
