You may find that your local home improvement store has a very good building materials department, and can provide your business with most of your lumber needs. Some stores may keep a good supply of both plywood and hardwood—two fundamental types of lumber that builders need on a regular basis. The lumber yard will usually fill call ahead orders, and may even have your lumber stacked and ready to go when you come to pick up your building materials; and be sure to request that they keep the lumber separated into hardwood and plywood stacks, if you prefer to pick them up that way. Before you leave the lumber yard, you may check to see if the store even has the fasteners your business needs to complete the building project; sometimes you can save yourself a trip to another building supplies store by picking up your fasteners at the same lumber yard that you purchased your other materials.
