During the last 30 years, mobile and manufactured homes have substantially changed. Trailers that were once towed behind the family automobile have been replaced by complete housing units designed to be permanent residences. These days, mobile homes (or manufactured homes) are housing units built in factories, rather than on site, and then taken to the place where they will be occupied, usually by being carried by tractor-trailers over public highways. They are usually much less expensive than site-built homes. The two major forms of manufactured homes are single-wides and double-wides. A mobile or manufactured homes broker can often help you find the right home for your housing needs.
