For many, buying a new home is a daunting prospect - the costs can be prohibitive, and credit issues make purchasing even more difficult. For these buyers, a new or used mobile home may allow them to fulfill the dream of owning their own home, without putting them in debt for 30 years or more. Mobile homes are slightly different than manufactured or modular homes, but some companies build both, and both are significantly cheaper than regular housing. To find a mobile home, check local listings for dealers, brokers and resellers. Mobile homes can often be snapped up very reasonably as repos being sold by the bank (where you may also be able to acquire a loan), or in liquidation sales by dealers or manufacturers. Mobile home parks or communities often have hookups ready to go. Mobile homes come in two main sizes: single-wide and doublewide. A single-wide is generally 16 feet or less wide, while doublewides are at least 20 feet wide.
