A manufacturer is usually a company or organization that is responsible for the transforming of raw materials into finished products for sale using different tools and manufacturing processes. Manufacturers may specialize in the manufacturing of any number of consumer products such as automobiles, furniture, electronics, and appliances, as well as the production of component parts to be used in other industrial manufacturing applications. Companies will often hire manufacturing companies to produce their products for them because of the specialized equipment and expertise they will often have in certain types of manufacturing, such as steel fabrication and semiconductor manufacturing. Many companies may ship their products to their customers directly from the manufacturer.
