Medical imaging services are important in order for doctors to come up with a diagnosis. If you need to get an MRI, CT, or PET you will want to find a company that has the required diagnostic equipment. Scanners, x-rays, and 4-D ultrasounds are not offered at every clinic. Mammography machines will generally be found at a women's health clinic while others may be found with doctors that specialize in cancer, physiology, microscopy, endoscopy, or thermography. Outpatient services generally won't take too long, especially if you're able to call and make an appointment beforehand. To do this, look online or in a phone book to find a clinic that has the services you need. Ask if you need to make an appointment or if they just take walk-ins. If you have recently seen your doctor who has recommended you get a scan, you may ask them to refer you of a local place that offers medical imaging services. An MRI, CT, and PET scanner may be offered at one place, however it's always safe to ask in case they don't have everything you need. Hospitals are more likely to have more service capabilities. Call your local hospital and see if they have what you need. You may also want to see if the medical imaging clinic you go to will accept your insurance policy to keep from having to pay for the scan out of pocket. You may also be able to call your insurance company and have them find a location that provides radiology, endoscopy, or anatomy scans. Once you have had the scan done you will want to see how long it takes them to have the results sent to your doctor for a diagnostic. Some may have a longer waiting period than others.
