How to Choose Natural Gas
--Types of Natural Gas--
Types of natural gas vary according to composition. Natural gas can be dry or lean (mostly methane) gas, wet gas (considerable amounts of so-called higher hydrocarbons), sour gas (much hydrogen sulfide), sweet gas (little hydrogen sulfide), residue gas (higher paraffin's having been extracted), and casinghead gas (derived from an oil well by extraction at the surface).
--Uses for Natural Gas--
Natural gas is supplied to homes, where it is used for such purposes as cooking in natural gas-powered ranges and/or ovens, natural gas-heated clothes dryers, heating/cooling and central heating. Home or other building heating may include boilers, furnaces, and water heaters. CNG (compressed natural gas) is used in rural homes without connections to piped-in public utility services, or with portable grills. However, due to CNG being less economical than LPG, LPG (Propane) is the dominant source of rural gas. It can be used as a motor fuel in 2 forms: compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG). LNG is used mostly for heavy-duty trucks and buses and also for fleet usage. Cars and light trucks are available as a special order from manufacturers or standard gasoline vehicles can be converted. Because natural gas is clean burning, it is being considered as an alternative fuel for motor vehicles. Compressed natural gas (CNG) cars and trucks are already on the road in many areas. Companies using industrial processes that require high temperatures are also turning to natural gas instead of other fuels in order to reduce the air pollution emitted by their plants. This includes companies involved in manufacturing steel, glass, ceramics, cement, paper, chemicals, aluminum, and processed foods.

Most households, small or large businesses and boats use natural gas, which is commonly called gas. Gas could be used for heating a home or business. Gas could be used for heating water or cooking of food. Gas consists mainly of methane. Methane is an odorless and colorless gas; however for safety precautions smells were to gas. One smell could seem like rotting cabbage. The other smell could seem like rotten eggs. Natural gas is stored in reservoirs and piped into homes and businesses through pipes placed in the ground before the construction of the building ever commenced. Gas piped into the home and to the heater, stove or water heater to generate energy.
