The fruits and nuts that people buy at the grocery store are for the most part grown by farmers who own orchards. Orchards are farms where the crops are grown on trees. There are many types of orchards out there. The types of orchards found in an area are largely determined by the types of soils found in that area and the climate of the area. Fruits and nuts are normally only grown commercially in areas with soil types in which the trees that bear the fruits and nuts thrive and with climates in which the trees that bear the fruits and nuts thrive. Some orchards are apricot orchards while others are peach orchards, cherry orchards, almond orchards or macadamia nut orchards. Some orchards are apple orchards while others are pear orchards, pistachio orchards, pecan orchards or grapefruit orchards. Some orchards are orange orchards while others are lemon orchards, lime orchards, walnut orchards or chestnut orchards.
