How to Choose Parks
Parks are a great way to enjoy local nature, but there are several different types of public parks that might be in your area that you can take advantage of. Knowing what kinds of parks you have in your area can help you choose which one you want to visit to engage in the activities that you like. Many cities have web site with local public parks listings. When you visit this page, you will want to consider what types of recreational activities they have at the parks. Some parks have areas for sports so that people can play baseball, soccer, and other sports. Some theme and amusement parks also have recreational playgrounds so that kids can play on swings and slides. A lot of people also go to parks because they like hiking trails, riding bikes on trails, looking at wildlife, and fishing in the lake and stream waters. When you visit a national or state park, be sure that you find out if they allow these activities. While some parks allow you to hunt their animals, others strictly forbid it. Some parks also have animals that are protected so you will want to be careful. People who live in the city often take their pets to parks so that they can run and socialize with other animals. A lot of parks have dog runs where you can take your dog off of its leash and let it run free within certain boundaries. This is a great way to get exercise for yourself, you children, and your pet.

Parks were created for those of all ages. It does not matter if one prefers team sports, individual sports or card games, one can usually participate in interesting, challenging activities in a park. If you visit a park alone, you may just want to lie on a blanket and relax or read a book while getting a little sun. If you are at the park with a group, you might want to share a picnic lunch and play a team sport. Still others find it fun to have dinner in the park, especially in the summer when it is light late into the evening hours.
