Some people feel that it is difficult to pick a law firm or agency because there are so many. By following these guidelines, though, you should be able to decide which patent searchers are right for you. Find out how long the office has been in business to help you determine how much experience the examiners have. An attorney with several years of experience should be able to search and obtain prior applications in the patent office than those with fewer years of experience. Ask them if they have a list of references that you can check. This is often the best way to find out how dependable the agent is because you can talk directly to their other clients. You should also ask them what types of patents and trademarks they usually work with. Do they have more legal knowledge about art or mechanics?
