Many professionals involved in real estate inspection belong to NARIES, the National Association of Real-estate Inspection & Evaluation Services. This organization provides information, career training and development, certification, and future association support. Inspectors are usually hired by the buyer to evaluate a property before the buyer invests in it. While real estate inspections may not be required, they are recommended to let the buyer know what types of problems may arise in the future. A thorough real estate inspection may include analysis of items such as drainage and grading, windows, siding, electrical, roofing, plumbing, heat and air conditioning, and sometimes even exterior items such as pools and spas, fences and even yards.
